Modesto, CA (PRWEB) March 12, 2005
On February 25, 2005, the Employment Training Panel (ETP) allocated funding to train 110 unemployed men and women in the California Central Valley. The purpose of these monies is to make training available to enable people on unemployment to increase and enhance the skills they need to get back into the work force.
The funds that ETP allocated last week will be managed through Community Business College, which has successfully handled this type of training in the past and placed more than 500 unemployed workers in gainful employment in Stanislaus County and surrounding areas.
The top areas in which ETP will be offering training through this agreement are as follows:
Accounting and Bookkeeping: Accountants and bookkeepers ensure that the nationÂs businesses are run efficiently, its public records kept accurately, and its taxes paid precisely and on time. According to the U. S. Department of LaborÂs Occupational Outlook, employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2000-2012.
Administrative Assistant and Secretarial Skills: These workers are responsible for performing and coordinating administrative activities, and for sorting, retrieving and integrating information. Restructuring has led to new responsibilities once reserved for managerial and professional staff. The U. S. Department of Labor projects that numerous job openings will result in this field from the need to replace workers who will leave this large occupation field each year.
Medical Office Support: Medical assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The U. S. Department of Labor projects this to be the fastest growing occupation over the 2000-2023 period.
Property Management: To businesses and investors, properly managed real estate is a potential source of income and profits. Property and Real Estate Managers oversee the performance of income-producing properties and ensure that real estate investments achieve their expected revenues. Employment opportunities in this field are expected to keep pace with the booming real estate market in this area.
The Economic Development and Workforce Alliance, the agency responsible for creating jobs in the county, recently sent questionnaires to 25,000 businesses and received responses from 10 percent of them. In identifying obstacles that stand in the way of growth in Stanislaus County, companies most frequently pointed to the lack of skills among workers and job seekers.
This ETP agreement with Community Business College will be used to address this lack of skills and prepare unemployed Central Valley workers for the demands of todayÂs economy.
