Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) March 20, 2006
Syscon Justice Systems, the world’s leader in offender management systems, has been awarded a contract by the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) to replace the State’s current OMS with Syscon’s TAG Offender Management System. The fully integrated solution will be known as the Nevada Offender Tracking & Information System (NOTIS). Syscon will also supply a full range of project management, business analysis, data conversion and engineering implementation services.
NDOC houses almost 12,000 offenders in eight (8) Correctional Facilities, ten (10) Conservation Camps, one (1) Restitution Center and one (1) Transitional Housing Center. NDOC will rely on the new NOTIS system for all mission-critical Offender Management needs. By replacing and unifying existing standalone or manual systems with TAG’s enterprise-wide data model, the State believes it will be able to advance its information tracking efforts on offenders, and increase public safety.
Jack Corrie, Syscon’s CEO of US operations, welcomed the news of the contract, saying it was a pleasure to be working with such a progressive Department. “Since we first read the original Request for Proposal, our team has been excited by the possibilities offered by the implementation of the NOTIS system,” he said. “Director Glenn Whorton and his people have shown a keen awareness of the benefits that can be offered by a modern system such as NOTIS. We intend to ensure that Nevada and its citizens derive all the value possible from their decision to move forward with Syscon.”
The NOTIS system, based on Syscon’s TAG OMS, will look after all aspects of offender management in the Nevada State correctional system, including booking, sentence calculation and management, case management, inmate property, programs and services, inmate grievances and requests, incidents and offences in custody, electronic health records, gangs and security threat management, visits management, transportation and parole board management. The NOTIS system is scheduled to come on line by June 30, 2007.
