Halo Monitoring’s Fall Detection Now Available Online Nationally

New Website, Online Store, Resources for Seniors, Family Members, and Caregivers

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) February 26, 2010

Halo Monitoring, Inc. (http://www. halomonitoring. com), provider of the world's most reliable and easy to use elderly fall monitoring system, announces a new consumer website and launches an online store today, halomonitoring. com (http://www. halomonitoring. com). Furthering their position as the easiest to use fall management system for elderly adults, the website makes it extremely easy for its customers to find relevant resources for care giving. Instructional videos and opportunities to learn about relevant care matters for seniors at risk of falling are offered on the site. The website also includes a new online store, making it easy for customers to subscribe to the myHalo service from anywhere in the United States. The online store features an option to rent the equipment without a commitment to buy.

“We previously had a well known emergency response call button system. My husband fell on two occasions and was too distraught to think of pressing the button, and lay on the floor for around two hours,” said myHalo subscriber Mrs. Bobbora about her 82 year old husband. “I searched the Internet for anything that could help me be alerted automatically if he should fall. Thankfully, I found you and myHalo. myHalo is simple to use, comfortable, and he pretty much forgets he has it on. myHalo has brought me a tremendous amount of peace of mind when I am at work and he is home alone.”

The new website features resources for seniors, their family members, and caregivers; videos and product demonstrations; a company blog (http://www. halomonitoring. com/category/halo-blog); frequently asked questions; and many more testimonials like that of Mrs. Bobbora.

“We are very excited about our new website and the online store. We are constantly striving to provide the very best service for our users and their loved ones, and in that spirit will continue to make enhancements to the website,” states Chris A. Otto, CEO of Halo Monitoring. “The website offers tips and information for aging in place and maximizing one’s experience with myHalo.”

Grooming and Spa Products Lend the Sweet Smell of Success to Pet Industry

Grooming and Spa Products Lend the Sweet Smell of Success to Pet Industry

The heightened emphasis these days on professional pet grooming, driven in large part by PETsMART’s and PETCO’s strong focus on services, is a dual-edged sword for at-home grooming products, potentially increasing consumer interest in the products while also competing for sales.

New York (PRWEB) October 13, 2005

Luxurious shampoos, therapeutic skin care, botanical ingredients— all the trappings of high-end human personal care products are quickly becoming must-have accessories of pet grooming products, according to Market Trends: Pet Grooming and Spa Products, a new report from market research publisher Packaged Facts, a division of MarketResearch. com.

And, our obsession with better looking (and smelling) companion animals has driven U. S. retail sales of pet grooming products to $165 million in 2004, reflecting annual growth averaging 5.3% since 2000 and relatively steady annual percentage gains.

At the expense of traditional retailers like supermarkets, drug stores and mass-merchandisers, the pet specialty stores are driving this growth. PETCO and PETsMART are maintaining market share for pet grooming products by building out their services and product offerings. The exception is Wal-Mart, whose own expansion—in number of stores, pet product range/department size (including online), and private-label—is likely keeping its sales growth rates for pet grooming products above the overall market average.

“Pet grooming products tie into two of the most important trends driving the overall market for pet products— the 'humanization' of pets, and the related trend of pet pampering,” said Don Montuori, publisher of Packaged Facts. “Products that have been ‘humanized’ to appeal to people—e. g., shampoos with gentler formulations and pleasing botanical scents, brushes with more comfortable grips, spa/gift-style products, etc.— are at the forefront of this market.”

Market Trends: Pet Grooming and Spa Products examines the U. S. market for consumer-oriented (retail) pet grooming products, with a particular focus on new-generation preparations positioned on natural and salon/spa appeals. The primary animal types are dogs and cats, although grooming products for small animals and birds are also included, with the exception of bird baths. This report takes into account the full retail spectrum for pet grooming products, including pet specialty stores, mass-market outlets, health/natural stores, and catalog/Internet.

Priced at $1,995, this report can be purchased directly from Packaged Facts by clicking http://www. packagedfacts. com/pub/1087708.html (http://www. packagedfacts. com/pub/1087708.html). It is also available at MarketResearch. com.

U. S. Company Opens Doors for Chilean Students Eager to Learn English

(PRWEB) July 18, 2005

Santiago, Chile (PRWEB) July 18, 2005 – Chilean schools and universities are eager to host native English speakers into the country to assist in English instruction.

TeachingChile (http://www. TeachingChile. com (http://www. TeachingChile. com)), a U. S. company that is managed, staffed, and operated from Santiago, Chile, is assisting the effort, recruiting interested participants from the U. S., Canada, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.

ChileÂ’s export-driven economy is premised on strong international trade relations, where a command of the English language is a must.

However, only 5 percent of Chilean students possess a reasonable English language speaking ability, according to the University of Cambridge English Exam results for ChileÂ’s first and secondary school students, which was released on Friday, July 1. http://www. teachingchile. com/pdf/five_percent. pdf (http://www. teachingchile. com/pdf/five_percent. pdf)

In an effort to further establish Chile as an economic leader, Chile’s President, Ricardo Lagos, has stated that the country must have a better working knowledge of English if it intends to be more competitive. Chile’s Minister of Education, Sergio Bitar, has reiterated that point, “Education is the wealth of Chile and English opens doors to increase that wealth.”

TeachingChile provides native English speakers worthwhile teaching placements with a monthly stipend sufficient to cover basic living costs at the local standard of living, assistance with finding lodging with a host family, in-country coordinators to provide support and services during the participantÂ’s stay, a two-week in-country orientation and training, a pre-paid insurance package that includes health and accident coverage, a one-year subscription to an English-language Chilean newspaper, and pre-departure information to ensure participants are prepared for the trip including visa advice and other recommendations to be sure they are properly equipped.

“For years DuocUC has integrated native English speakers into our English program,” stated Philip Cary, Director of English Programs at DuocUC. “TeachingChile allows us to expand and improve our English program, reaching a broader audience of students,” Cary added. DuocUC is a four-year professional institute with over 13,000 students in the English program in nine campuses throughout Chile.

CEO of iSatori Supplement Company and Editor-in-Chief of Real Solutions Magazine, “Bribes” Local Police Department to Shape Up and Lose Weight

CEO of iSatori Supplement Company and Editor-in-Chief of Real Solutions Magazine, “Bribes” Local Police Department to Shape Up and Lose Weight

Stephen Adele, CEO of iSatori Supplement Company and Editor-in-Chief of Real Solutions magazine, “brides” the local Denver Police Department to Shape Up and Lose Weight.

Golden, CO (PRWEB) May 21, 2006

Stephen Adele, CEO of iSatori Supplement Company and Editor-in-Chief of Real Solutions magazine, “brides” the local Denver Police Department to get in “tip-top shape”… and offers them $1 for every pound of bodyfat they lose!

That’s right! Earlier this year, Stephen challenged the Denver Police Department to “get on the Plan”… to build great-looking muscle, lose as much bodyfat as possible, and develop a renewed sense of strength and confidence. In return, he offered to buy their fat for $1 per pound.

Over the course of 12 weeks, following Stephen’s Lean System Success Plan, the 110 participants who took up his challenge lost over 2,000 combined pounds of bodyfat.

For their spectacular efforts, on May 15, Stephen donated a check to the Denver Police Officer’s Foundation Outreach Program (in return for their fat) and awarded the top male and female winners of the Police Department a trip to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, where they can show off their new bodies. “There’s no greater gift for me, and my company, than being able to recognize those who have made extraordinary achievements—such as these officers,” commented Stephen Adele. He goes on to explain, “Their commitment to eating healthy and regularly exercising will form new habits that will last a lifetime, and even more importantly, the changes each of them has experienced on the outside are a mere reflection of the changes that have taken place on the inside.”

As a result of the donation from Stephen Adele and iSatori, Denver Police Officer, Joseph Bini, exclaimed, “Organizing our Lean System Body Transformation Challenge allowed me to help others in law enforcement discover all of the wonders of being fit and eating healthy. I love to hear each and every success story and share in their joy." Officer Bini goes on to say, “after recovering from cancer, I have found that this is wonderful therapy for me.”

How did they do it? In three easy steps: First, they decided they needed to improve their bodies… next they followed Stephen’s Lean System Success Plan, eating healthy and smart and exercising more regularly… and finally they relied on ISATORI’s expert support staff to help answer their questions and provide support every step of the way! Newark Youth Golf Clicks with Unique Internet Fund-Raising Program

DATELINE: NEWARK, NJ, ISSUED OCTOBER 5, 2001Â

In a refreshing fund-raising alternative to cookies and chocolate bars, Newark Youth Golf, based in Newark, NJ, has recently incorporated EZFundraiser’s Internet-based fund raising program into their web site, www. newarkyouthgolf. org, to raise money for the “Hook A Kid On Golf” program.

“This new Internet fund raising program is a highly efficient way to raise the significant funds needed to continue our programming with no upfront cost. It is a very easy and safe fund-raising program for the children involved because they don’t have to solicit the program to strangers. With EZFundraiser’s program, we get maximum results in quick

Turnaround time with minimal administration on our part,” noted Ed Wadood, CEO and President of Newark Youth Golf.

Help Those in Need

Newark Youth Golf, based in Newark, NJ, is a community based youth golf program. The Newark Youth Golf program, comprised of Hook A Kid On Golf, formally introduces socially and economically disadvantaged kids to the game of golf and consists a life skills component, which includes mentoring programs, computer literacy and conflict resolution incorporated into the training.

Fund raising efforts support the Newark Youth Golf program, which accommodates approximately 350 participating kids each summer. Of all the children, 30 or more youngsters usually continue on to the Challenge Junior Golf League and Traditions of Golf Challenge, Hook A Kid On Golf national tournament.

For more information about Newark Youth Golf, “America’s Most Comprehensive National Youth Golf Program”, contact (800) 622-3427 or visit the web site at www. newarkyouthgolf. org.

Insight to the Internet Fund-Raising Program

EZFundraiser’s “No Upfront Cost Fundraiser Internet Program” (found at www. ezfundraiser. com) provides a unique opportunity for individuals and local businesses to show their support for Newark Youth Golf through the purchase of “Booster Banners” or Sponsorships (advertising banners), which are posted at www. newarkyouthgolf. org. EZFundraiser is a division of Youth Sports USA (www. ysusa. com), which is headquartered in Weymouth, MA.

The unique, safe and lucrative “No Upfront Cost Fundraiser Internet Program” was developed by EZFundraiser for amateur youth sports, non-profits and other community based organizations. The parent company, Youth Sports USA, founded in 1995, is the largest reference site for amateur sports teams on the Internet with over 27,000 participating leagues, teams and non-profit organizations.

Show Your Support with Web Site “Booster Banners”

The program is very simple. EZFundraiser creates a rotating booster banner pool to display an individual’s (usually a parent, relative or friend) message (on the internet) that shows their support. Support can be in the form of a loved one sending a message to someone participating in a sport or event, such as “Way to go John M.! There’s no other soccer forward like you - good luck in the finals!” Or, the message could show support to a non-profit organization, “Thanks to the library’s free computer classes, I was able to gain the skills I needed without spending hundreds of dollars-Ann T.”

A standard banner is created by EZFundraiser, which will display the booster banner message (no more than 25 words) that will rotate in the booster banner pool 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Local businesses may also support the fund-raising organization through the Sponsorship programÂ’s advertising banners.

Fast, Safe and Highly Efficient Fund-Raising

Unlike other fundraisers that require purchase of food, brochures or other products prior to start date, there is no upfront cost to the organization. EZFundraiser’s “No Upfront Cost Fundraiser Internet Program” has the capability to generate large revenues with minimal administration and fast turnaround time, usually two-weeks or less. Additionally, it is one of the safest fundraiser programs for children because solicitation remains within their immediate family network and not with strangers.

Less Work, More Money for your Cause

“The ‘No Upfront Cost Fundraiser Internet Program’ is unlike other fundraiser programs because of the unique web site usage,” noted Bill Fischer, Director of EZFundraiser. Dave Jackson, co-founder of Youth Sports USA adds, “For teams, amateur sports leagues, school groups and non-profit organizations that do not currently have a site, Youth Sports USA can develop one for them at no charge. Additionally, more of the money raised goes to the actual team or organization. In this whole new concept, 75% of the money raised goes to the organization and 25% goes to EZFundraiser for administration costs. With other traditional fund-raising programs, organizations usually receive about 25% of funds raised. We developed this unique program because we wanted a safer program for children and because we wanted an easier, highly profitable fundraiser for youth teams and other organizations.”

How it Works

The participants of the fundraising organization sell a banner to anyone who would like to create a custom message about someone or an organization as a sign of support. EZFundraiser booster banner voucher booklets are supplied to the individuals working the fundraiser at no cost to the organization. The vouchers in the booklet are then purchased and filled out with a loved oneÂ’s or supporterÂ’s message and returned to EZFundraiser for the completion of the booster banner to rotate on their web site. All the technology is supplied and executed by EZFundraiser.

The typical EZFundraiser program involves a league that might have 165 players who would sell five booster banners each at $25 each. The scenario is a lucrative one – 165 players x 5 booster banners each x $25/banner = $20,625 gross. This unique fundraiser works on all web sites.

The booster banner program is a safe program that utilizes usernames and password protected systems to prevent information tampering. The pages are monitored for content to keep it healthy and beneficial for all involved.

Traffic, Traffic and More Traffic

Several factors enhance the appeal of having a booster banner. For a league, non-profit or community organization, it is an opportunity to generate added revenue for the organization. For the individual that purchases a booster banner, it is an opportunity to boost, cheer or show support at the organizationÂ’s web site. Lastly, booster banners drive a great amount of traffic to the organizationÂ’s web site.

Weight of Evidence Supports Safety and Economic Benefits of Atrazine

Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) March 2, 2010

A growing body of research shows that atrazine has no effects on amphibians. Syngenta reports the herbicide passes the most stringent, up-to-date safety requirements in the world. The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) re-registered atrazine in 2006, based on the overwhelming evidence of safety from nearly 6,000 studies.

Growing body of research shows no effects on amphibians.  Atrazine passes the most stringent, up-to-date safety requirements in the world.  The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) re-registered atrazine in 2006, based on the overwhelming evidence of safety from nearly 6,000 studies.

Based on the weight of evidence of more than 6,000 studies, scientists around the world have shown that atrazine (http://www. atrazine. com) is safe to use – providing farmers an important tool to bring us safe, abundant and nutritious food.

A recent study on frog development runs counter to the vast majority of scientific opinion, which shows atrazine has no effect (http://www. atrazine. com/Amphibians/atrazine_amphibians. aspx) on amphibian development. After a comprehensive study (http://www. ncbi. nlm. nih. gov/pubmed/19008211) in 2007, regulators and credible scientists agreed that atrazine is safe to frogs at levels that appear in the environment.

The EPA, the Australian government, and the World Health Organization have all looked at atrazine’s effects on endocrine systems and given atrazine a clean bill of health.

Most recently, the State of Minnesota conducted a thorough review of atrazine, and in a January announcement (http://www. mda. state. mn. us/en/news/releases/2010/nr-2010-01-15-atrazinereview. aspx) said, “The review finds that atrazine regulations protect human health and the environment in Minnesota.”

Atrazine is critical for family farms

The EPA estimates (http://www. epa. gov/oppsrrd1/reregistration/atrazine/atrazineadd. pdf#page=13) the loss of atrazine would cost corn growers $28 an acre in lost yields and substitutes, and the total negative impact on corn, sorghum and sugar cane growers in the U. S. would exceed $2 billion per year.

All studies are not created equal

The soundness of a scientific study hinges on its transparency and reproducibility. Do its procedures and results stand up to review by independent scientific peers and regulatory agencies? Can the study be reproduced with the same findings? This approach safeguards the scientific community, regulators, industry and the public from questionable results.

In testimony (http://www. atrazinefacts. com/downloads/Lindsay_written. pdf) before the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee of the Minnesota House of Representatives (February 16, 2005), Anne E. Lindsay, former deputy director, Office of Pesticide Programs, US Environmental Protection Agency, detailed the elaborate and meticulous scientific process required for pesticide registration.

She described at length the painstaking process EPA followed before recommending the re-registration of atrazine for use in American agriculture. She noted that EPA "reaches its conclusions through a systematic, objective evaluation of all relevant information. She noted that each step of the process uses scientifically peer-reviewed, documented procedures."

Lindsay testified that EPA looks "closely at every study to determine whether the results are scientifically sound," and that it insists on record retention and full data reporting. She stated that to review these studies, EPA follows "published, peer-reviewed Standard Evaluation Procedures."

Despite EPA's diligent investigative process, a legal and political attack has been launched against atrazine, relying on a handful of studies which, by objective scientific standards, offer questionable conclusions.

Regarding comments on frogs and atrazine

A new set of observations released yesterday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences claims effects of atrazine on amphibian development but raises questions about the integrity of the assessments’ experimental design.

The study (http://www. pnas. org/content/early/2010/02/12/0909519107.full. pdf) has many shortcomings that undercut its usefulness, including its inconsistency with prior findings by the author. Two other in particular are: 1) the use of only one dose level of atrazine, when almost all studies used to assess the effects of substances for regulatory purposes are conducted at more than one concentration to validate when and if a predicted response happens consistently and; 2) the failure to use a positive control – a basic requirement of this kind of study. Positive controls confirm that the procedure is competent in observing the effect.

One study among many

For 50 years, atrazine has been used safely in agriculture with no effect to amphibians, fish, birds and other wildlife at concentrations found in the environment—a fact that is supported by numerous scientific studies.

Several recent studies add to the collection of 6,000-plus that support atrazine’s safety to amphibians. Technical experts can review the following:

Kloas W, I Lutz, T Springer, H Krueger, J Wolf, L Holden and A Hosmer. Does Atrazine Induce Gonadal Feminization in Xenopus laevis?, Toxicol. Sci. 2009, 107(2) 376-384.  LaFiandra EM, Babbitt KJ, Sower SA.. Effects of atrazine on anuran development are altered by the presence of a nonlethal predator, J. Toxicol. Environ. Health, Part A, 2008, 71:505-511.  Oka, T., Tooi, O., Mitsui, N., Miyahara, M., Ohnishi, Y., Takase, M., Kashiwagi, A., Santo, N., Iguchi, T. Effect of atrazine on metamorphosis and sexual differentiation in Xenopus laevis, Aquat. Toxicol, 2008, 87:215-226.  Storrs SI, Semlitsch RD. 2008. Variation in somatic and ovarian development: Predicting susceptibility. Gen. Comp. Endocrinol. 156(3):524-530.  USEPA White Paper on the Potential for Atrazine to Affect Amphibian Gonadal Development. Submitted to the FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel for Review and Comment October 9-12, 2007. Atrazine is safe to use

Atrazine is a legally approved and heavily regulated product after exhaustive research including nearly 6,000 studies which determined it is safe for use as labeled. There is no other crop protection product that has received more examination than atrazine. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Updates Its Info On America's Forgotten Drywall Disaster & Knauf

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Updates Its Info On America's Forgotten Drywall Disaster & Knauf

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is promising homeowners in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, and Southeast Texas, that it will keep up its efforts to get meaningful help for families living in a toxic drywall home, no matter how long it takes. The group says, "most US citizens outside of the US Southeast have never heard of imported Knauf Chinese drywall, toxic Chinese drywall, or the mess 100,000's of US citizens in Florida, or other US Southeastern States-live with-each day. We just have do to a better job of getting the word out about toxic drywall." As far as updates, the group is saying, "the Knauf Chinese drywall Federal Court ruling last week-is a very big deal, & we think we really need to focus on identifying those homeowners in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Southeast Texas, and Virginia who might have this specific type of Chinese drywall." Homeowners wishing more information can contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Washington, DC (Vocus) May 3, 2010

You'd think after 16 months every US citizen would know about the toxic Chinese drywall disaster in the US Southeast, the effects its had on 100,000's of US families, the 10,000's of US citizens-who have had to walk away from their American dream of home ownership in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, or other US States-because of toxic Chinese drywall-but--sadly that is not the case. Most US Citizens have never heard of toxic Chinese drywall. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "its almost like every time we catch a break-with possible in depth national news coverage of the toxic Chinese drywall catastrophe---like last weeks federal court ruling-related to imported Knauf Chinese drywall ( United States District Court-Eastern District of Louisiana MDL Case #2047)-something else comes along-and the story gets lost again." The group is saying, "if you live in a Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, or a US Southeast subdivision, home, or condominium, don't lose faith, we just really need to get better organized-to present this issue to the nation, and the current Administration-for long overdue national attention & disaster relief." For more information homeowners are welcome to contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Chinese Drywall Update:

Last weeks ruling in favor of the plaintiffs in the Knauf Chinese drywall was a huge victory for homeowners living with this specific type of imported drywall. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "our big focus now is to help homeowners in Central, Northern, and the Panhandle of Florida, along with homeowners in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi identify this specific type of Knauf Chinese drywall in their homes." The group says, "if Knauf imported Chinese drywall has been discovered in your subdivision, your condominium, or your home-it is absolutely critical we get you, and your neighbors identified-now." For more information please contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Homeowners in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Southeast Texas, and other US Southeast states need to come to grips with "intermixing toxic Chinese drywall-with US made drywall-this is the new big deal in this disaster." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "intermixing toxic Chinese drywall with US made drywall makes the drywall disaster-perhaps four, or five times worse than what is now thought to be the number of effected US homes. So we could easily go from 100,000 to 500,000 homes-with no problem." The group says, "if a homeowner in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Southeast Texas is on their second, or third AC coil-combined with the homeowner-or their families are sick, in a new home, or a home remodeled after 2000-they should call us immediately at 866-714-6466."

Thus far the Obama Administrations response to the toxic Chinese drywall catastrophe has been a national disgrace. Tens of thousands of US Children live in toxic Chinese drywall homes in just Florida alone---and the US Centers for Disease Control has yet to provide health care professionals with treatment protocols for exposure to toxic Chinese drywall? Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "after being in the news-at least in Florida-almost everyday since January 2009-the absolutely worthless US Consumer Products Safety Commission has yet to recall one sheet of toxic Chinese Drywall-in Florida, or any other US State?"

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "the 100,000's of US homeowners stuck in this toxic Chinese drywall mess are worth fighting for. It would seem that the US Congress & Obama Administration have turned their backs on you. We are still finding homeowners in Florida---who are now just discovering they have toxic Chinese drywall in their homes?" For more information please contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Prescription for Ailing Physicians

Prescription for Ailing Physicians

Professional Assessment Services and Solutions (PASS)offers a variety of professional services to healthcare providers who wish to improve their interpersonal communications among colleagues, employees, patients, and families.

Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) April 4, 2005

While having a bad bedside manner is not grounds for malpractice, professional behavior and the ability to communicate effectively is essential to every physician-patient relationship. When these breakdowns occur, a physician becomes more vulnerable to malpractice cases, complaints filed with medical boards, and in some cases, dismissal from HMO plans. Concerned over inappropriate physician behavior and the rise in patient complaints, Professional Assessment Services and Solutions (PASS) is enrolling physicians in their week long treatment program targeted at rehabilitating disruptive physicians. The launch is April 4, 2005 with ongoing programs scheduled throughout the year.

“During my tenure at the Arizona Medical Board, approximately 80% of patient complaints involved disrespectful and rude behavior,“ cited Barry Cassidy, PhD, PA-C, chief executive of PASS and former executive director for the Arizona Medical Board.

The first program of its type in the country, PASS targets at-risk licensed professionals who have demonstrated disruptive behavior and are in jeopardy of losing their medical license, individual reputations, insurance coverage, and ultimately their entire careers.

Once admitted, physicians will go through a battery of psychological tests and personal interviews performed by nationally recognized psychologists and psychiatrists to develop individualized treatment programs.

In addition to personal and group counseling, physicians will be enrolled in educational seminars focusing on aspects of their medicalpractice which could conceivably be adding to their stress. Local consultants will provide training in the areas of negotiation skill development; communication enhancement counseling; financial and business counseling; and personal and professional debt restructuring.

In support of their mission to enhance self-awareness, PASS will also offer exercise classes, diet, wardrobe assessment and etiquette training.

The cost will be born by the at-risk physician and will vary depending on the individualÂ’s needs. Fees range from $1,000 to $10,000; a small investment to preserve a physicianÂ’s ability to practice medicine.

“Research shows that disruptive physicians have significant negative impact on co-workers, increase the likelihood of medical malpractice claims and increase errors in patient care. While hospital committees and medical boards play a significant role in protecting the public, PASS provides impaired physicians a preventative approach to understanding and treating the behavior to avoid potential harm,” states Cassidy.

“There is a national shortage of health care providers; therefore, anything that can be done to proactively address physician behavioral issues before a disciplinary action ensues is a win-win for both the provider and the community they care for,” remarked John Shufeldt, MD, FACEP, founder of PASS.

When asked about the motivation for developing the program Shufeldt responded, “My professional and post-doctoral educational endeavors have led me to this concept; no longer can ‘physician heal thyself’ be the mantra. As providers, we must work together, for the benefit of our patients, to engender a culture of tolerance, personal reflection, and interpersonal growth.”

For more information please contact Amy Esplin at (480) 776-1602 or aesplin@passusa. org. Additional informaion can also be found on the website at www. PASSUSA. org

About Professional Assessment Services and Solutions (PASS)

PASS offers at-risk physicians a solution that, when successful, will reinvigorate both their personal and professional lives, and will reduce their risk of adverse interpersonal interactions, disruptive behaviors, and career failure.

Mentoring Brother 2 Brother, Inc. Receives TJX Foundation Grant

Mentoring Brother 2 Brother, Inc. Receives TJX Foundation Grant

Mentoring Brother 2 Brother, Inc has received a $5,000 grant from the TJX Foundation, Inc. and the TJX Companies, Inc.

Dallas (PRWEB) October 14, 2005

As part of its Foundation mission to invest within the communities they serve, the TJX Foundation recently awarded Mentoring Brother 2 Brother, Inc. a $5,000 grant to support the organization’s mentoring, tutoring and youth leadership programs that target disenfranchised African American male youth between the ages of six and eighteen within the South Dallas and surrounding communities.

Mentoring Brother 2 Brother programs are designed with the mission and vision to support the social, emotional and cultural well being of youth who are often targets of peer pressures toward behavior that is risky, and sometimes life-threatening. All MB2B programs (mentoring, tutoring, community service, leadership, spirituality, etc.) are designed to be strong in discipline, prevention and intervention components dealing both with the youth and their parent and/or guardian. One of the primary goals of Mentoring Brother 2 Brother program is to develop strong leadership skills in these young men in the areas of peer influence, character and integrity.

Ray Schufford, Vice-President of Mentoring Brother 2 Brother, states, “Our mentoring program specifically teaches and empowers our Mentees to develop tolerant and inclusive behaviors without compromising the uniqueness of the individual whether African-American or another race, we also teach and mentor program participants to embrace diversity, to speak out against acts of hate or discrimination of any type.” Thus, the primary goal of the TJX Foundation is to provide grants in local communities who provide services focused on programs designed to strengthen the education, empowerment and economic development of children, women and families within the communities in which they reside.

The TJX Foundation’s funding contributions are targeted to programs that help disadvantaged families, women and children, and the Foundation primarily supports organizations in communities where one or more of their retail divisions operate a store and whose programs are designed to help in one of the following areas: promotion of sound mental and physical health, provide shelter, enhance education/job readiness; and build community ties.

In early June, Ned Jones, TJMaxx Regional Vice President and Jerome Smalls, Assistant Vice President, Manager of Community Relations of The TJX Companies were able to make a site visit to one of the organization’s Saturday morning mentoring sessions in which they were able to interact with the mentees in the program as well as observe the mentoring and leadership curriculum taught during these sessions. “We were very pleased that Mr. Jones and Mr. Smalls took the time out of their very busy schedules to not only visit with us, but also interact with our mentees,” stated, Ray Schufford, Vice-President of Mentoring Brother 2 Brother. “It is very rare that a foundation would not only take the time to make a site visit on a weekend, but also spend time getting to know the people within the organization,” stated Terrence Chase, who serves as the organization’s president.

The TJX Foundation, sponsored solely by The TJX Companies, Inc., was established in 1989 to carry out the social responsibility of the Company, by providing assistance to the communities in which it operates. The overriding concern of The TJX Foundation is to support qualified, tax exempt, 501(c)(3), nonprofit organizations that provide services which promote and improve the quality of life for children, women and families in need.

In addition to the recent grant, from the TJX Foundation, Inc. and the TJX Companies, Inc. Mentoring Brother 2 Brother also recently partnered with several Dallas/Forth Worth area TJ Maxx stores to provide over 1,000 pieces of clothing, shoes and toys to displaced Hurricane Katrina evacuees that are currently displaced within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area. “We are looking forward to a long partnership between the Mentoring Brother 2 Brother organization and the TJX Foundation and Companies to further impact the lives of not only our mentees in the program, but other disadvantaged, low-income and racially and ethically diverse populations within the metroplex area as well,” stated Tamara Johnson, Mentoring Brother 2 Brother board member.

Harborside Healthcare Supports the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by Participating In This Year's Cow Parade

Harborside Healthcare Supports the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by Participating In This Year's Cow Parade

Harborside Healthcare, one of the nation’s most respected long-term care companies proudly supports the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by participating in this year’s Boston Cow Parade.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 7, 2006

The Cow Parade is the world’s largest public art event. From Chicago and New York in 1999 and 2000 to Kansas City and Houston in 2001 and London in 2002, Cow Parade continues to evolve, not just in size, but in creativity and quality of art. Most importantly the Cow Parade benefits charity. It is with this in mind that Harborside Healthcare proudly sponsors a cow this summer.

On June 6th the cow will be on display in Faneuil Hall. The artwork for the Harborside cow was done by Lynn Furick as Harborside not only sponsors the cow but sponsors the artist as well. Lynn has given the cow the name of “Sparkles” the Rhinestone Cowboy because of thousands of colorful rhinestones that cover the cow and create the western theme. For more information about Sparkles and Lynn Furick, please see her website at http://www. rhinestonecow. blogspot. com (http://www. rhinestonecow. blogspot. com)

“Harborside Healthcare is an important member of the Boston business community” said Kelly McCallister, Harborside’s VP of Marketing and Sales, “and as part of that community we like to give something back. Not only will the artwork be shared with the community, but the proceeds will benefit The Jimmy Fund and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Harborside Healthcare is proud to do its part in the fight against cancer.”

Rhinestone Cowboy will be on display in Faneuil Hall from June 6th through September 5th. After September 5th Rhinestone Cowboy will be taken down and auctioned off at a live auction, and the rest of the cows in the parade that are not auctioned will be sold online. All of the proceeds from the auction go to The Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Harborside operates 53 facilities and employs more than 8,000 full and part-time employees in nine states in New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Midwest. Nearly 7,000 individuals receive care at its facilities in Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Kentucky and Rhode Island. The company was founded in 1987.

In 2002, Harborside Healthcare was one of the first in its profession to adopt an industry-driven, voluntary quality initiative in which the company and its employees pledged to follow a formal code of conduct and ethical management practices known as “Quality First.” Harborside Healthcare was also the first long-term care company in the nation to publish the results of a detailed, annual quality survey of all of its facilities.

Harborside facilities have won more national quality awards than any other long-term care provider of its size, including three of the prestigious American Health Care Association (AHCA) Step II Quality Awards recognizing long-term care organizations that seek excellence in all aspects of providing care and services.

Two Jackson & Coker Executives to Accompany Medical Missions Brigade to Honduras

Two Jackson & Coker Executives to Accompany Medical Missions Brigade to Honduras

Jackson & Coker executives Tony Rico and Steve Saslona to participate in a medical missions brigade to Honduras, sponsored by Jackson & Coker in concert with Mission Predisan.

Alpharetta, GA (Vocus) April 23, 2010

Later this month, Jackson & Coker (http://www. jacksoncoker. com) will again help sponsor a medical missions brigade to Honduras, and accompanying the group will be Tony Rico and Steve Saslona from the firm’s management team.

The medical brigade will consist of Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, Surgical Assistants, Nurses, Physical Therapists and other healthcare providers who volunteer their time to treat patients in an underserved area of Central America. Jackson & Coker’s team will coordinate their efforts with Mission Predisan, an organization that operates medical facilities throughout Honduras.

For the first time, another provider making the trip will be a Psychiatrist, who will treat patients at the Predisan Rehabilitation Center. Clinicians at the facility provide individual, family and group therapy, as well as addiction treatment and spiritual counseling.

“We are pleased that several members of our management team will be participating in this latest medical missions trip, along with dedicated practitioners who are willing to volunteer their time and services,” mentioned Sandra Garrett, President of Jackson & Coker.

Personal perspectives

Tony Rico, Senior VP of Operations with Jackson & Coker, remarked, “I have heard about the experiences of others who have gone on the medical missions trips previously, and I was impressed by what they shared from their perspective and personal contribution. In each instance, they felt they got back more than they gave—a great lesson of life for everyone—and benefitted from a truly life-changing experience.”

Steve Saslona, company Controller, echoed a similar thought as he prepared for this trip: “I consider myself very fortunate for all that I have, both personally and professionally. I see this as a real opportunity to give of myself and hopefully touch the lives of others.”

In the past, the medical brigades have performed, in one week’s time, several dozen surgeries and provided other medical assistance to residents of the Catacamas section of Honduras. Spearheading these medical mission trips is Jackson Healthcare Charities, one of the charitable organizations associated with Jackson Healthcare (http://www. jacksonhealthcare. com).

“In keeping with our organization’s philanthropic initiatives, Jackson Healthcare Charities is pleased to again co-sponsor a medical brigade to Honduras,” said Chad Jackson, JHC Director. “Word of our upcoming visit has spread throughout the community, and we’re certain that our volunteer caregivers will be kept busy treating patients of all ages with a wide range of medical conditions.”

What participants expect

This trip represents a brand new experience for both Tony and Steve. They are somewhat familiar with what to expect, based upon the experience of other Jackson & Coker associates who have previously served on the medical missions teams.

“I understand the activities are very well organized, so I expect to be entrenched in the entire experience and do anything and everything I can do to help—whether it’s mopping floors, helping with the camera equipment or being a ‘go-fer’ in the surgical area,” Tony remarked.

“I’m also willing to pitch in and help in any way possible,” Steve said. “I believe my true purpose for going on the trip will not be realized until after I have gone. In all, I’m very excited to participate in this mission trip and represent Jackson & Coker.”

Both volunteers view their involvement as an expression of the core values shared by Jackson & Coker and Jackson Healthcare Charities.

“This volunteer mission is just another example of how Jackson & Coker can make a difference in the lives of people who are in need of quality medical care,” Steve noted. “The medical staff we bring along shares this commitment to improve the well-being of those served through medical volunteerism.”

Tony added, “Both companies stress the values of putting others first and giving back in ways that make a significant impact. As a father, I hope to instill these values in my children as they grow up and take their place in society. Without a doubt, ‘It’s all about gratitude, not attitude.’”

Also accompanying the group will be Scott Garrett, the manager of biomedical engineering at a major medical center in Atlanta, Georgia. He has twenty years’ experience in biomedical engineering and will make sure all the medical equipment is functioning properly.

“Although I’ve never participated in medical missions before, I look forward to the professional challenge of offering technical assistance to make sure that everything runs smoothly for those who provide direct patient care. Sometimes it’s the ‘little things’ that make a difference in ensuring effective medical operations,” Scott observed.

The L. I.V. E. - Rock For Life Concert Starring Jody Joseph & The Average Joes, Students And Friends

The L. I.V. E. - Rock For Life Concert Starring Jody Joseph & The Average Joes, Students And Friends

The L. I.V. E. - Rock For Life Concert produced by and starring Music Instructor and Popular Jersey Shore Based Artist Jody Joseph (Jody Joseph & The Average Joes) and featuring Matt O'Ree, and their respective music students, raises $15,000 for the New Jersey Chapter of Yellow Ribbon International®

Asbury Park, NJ (PRWEB) February 6, 2005

Jody Joseph, popular New Jersey music instructor, frontperson for the well known Shore act Jody Joseph & The Average Joe’s and first cousin to pop music icon Jon Bon Jovi, teamed up with the local Chapter of Yellow Ribbon International® to present the L. I.V. E. - Rock For Life Concert that benefit directly Yellow Ribbon International’s Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program® in New Jersey. The sold-out L. I.V. E. Concert took place on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The L. I.V. E. (pronunciation: 'liv) - Rock For Life Concert was the vision of Joseph who felt compelled to produce a benefit and awareness concert for teenage suicide prevention after one of her students, Stephanie Fritz, 15, took her own life. Joseph approached Stephanie's father, Scott Fritz with the concept for L. I.V. E. (an acronym created by Joseph's own teen daughter; Live, Inspire, Vibe, Energy). Fritz, now the head of the New Jersey chapter of Yellow Ribbon International®, agreed.

“I have always believed that music is a universal language that has the ability to comfort and heal through some pretty dark moments,” says Joseph. "I'm glad to be part of this wonderful event that I think will change so many lives.”

The number one priority of L. I.V. E. was to increase awareness about teenage suicide, which has become an epidemic in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

8 Monmouth County teens have completed suicide in the past 16 months compared to 2 in the 4 years preceding that.

Yellow Ribbon International®, an outreach program of The Light For Life Foundation International®, was founded by the parents of Mike Emme, a popular teen who took his life in 1994. The goal of the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program® is two-fold: Get Yellow Ribbon cards to teens and inform the public what these cards are. All a troubled teen need do is hand their Yellow Ribbon card to someone they trust and that person is to interpret it as a cry for help. The card contains important instructions so that recipient adults and peers can respond appropriately and immediately: Stay with the person, you are their lifeline! - Listen, really listen. Take them seriously! - Get, or call help immediately! Ultimately, The Yellow Ribbon Model intends to adjust societal norms to show that (1) “It's OK to Ask for Help!”® and that (2) “It's OK to Be-A-Link!”® To date the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program® has saved an estimated 2500 lives worldwide.

"We need to get this program into the schools," Fritz says. "We've spoken to superintendents in all of Monmouth’s 52 school (districts), and they've been slow to react.”

Media has also been slow to cover the suicide epidemic. It was only until the announcement of the L. I.V. E. - Rock For Life Concert that the media began to pick up on this local health crisis. According to Fritz, one of the reasons schools and media are slow to respond to this topic is because of the false belief that talking about suicide will cause suicide.

“Kids are already talking about (suicide),” says Fritz. “It is in the movies they see and the shows they watch on TV. If they are going to talk about it they need to know that suicide is not the answer. That it is okay to ask for help. And no matter how bad things look, there are professionals that can help them.”

Don Quigley, who worked with Fritz to organize the concert, also lost his son, Sean, 14, to suicide. L. I.V. E., he said, is an important first step of breaking through the taboo that surrounds discussing suicide openly and frankly.

"If we were equipped with the education and the look-out signs, I'm sure Sean would be with us today," Quigley says.

Roughly 800 tickets, at $15 a piece, were sold. According to Quigley L. I.V. E. could have sold twice as many tickets if they had a larger venue. The evening featured performances by Jody Joseph & The Average JoeÂ’s, fellow music instructor Matt OÂ’Ree accompanied by his band, singer/songwriter Dawne Allynne and dozens more local musicians, including nearly 40 of Joseph and O'Ree's young students. Food and beverages were served, and over 50 items were auctioned off, including an Ovation acoustic guitar signed by Jon Bon Jovi and a custom Gibson Firebird signed by Kid Rock guitarist Kenny Olson.

The Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program® is not funded by federal dollars or large corporations, donations come only from supporters in communities. Proceeds from ticket sales, merchandise and an open auction for the L. I.V. E. - Rock For Life Concert totaled more than $15,000 and will benefit directly Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program® efforts in New Jersey.

“Suicide is a devastating tragedy for the family of the person who completes suicide, for the friends, school, and community. And, it can happen to any family. We never thought it was going to happen to ours,” says Fritz. “Education is a key. So is love. I don't think we can stop all suicides, but we can certainly keep a lot of them from happening, I have been told three kids have been helped in (Monmouth) County already, and the education is just starting.”

Many more features will surprise the surfer community and extend the pleasure of surfing on the waves of the internet.

Reflections of a Modern Pilgrim on Church, Ministry, Healing, and Life (paperback, 978-1-60477-758-1) has arrived in bookstores, and it addresses some hard-hitting questions that have dogged man for years: What does a healthy church look like? What are the qualities of a good Christian leader? Can you sustain church growth through pastoral care? How does one minister to people in pain? Does God use our weaknesses? How can one maintain a healthy family and a sound mind? And in the end, what will your tombstone say? Mathew, a professor of pastoral care, offers practical wisdom on a multitude of issues related to the church, ministry, healing, and Christian life. In the book, these issues are addressed from a biblical worldview and a global perspective.

It is practical, biblically sound, easily readable, and written from a global perspective by someone who has lived in the East and the West."
