Dream Tattoo Designs - Tips to Choose Your Favourite Tattoo Designs

Tattoos are very common these days, with almost 1 in 4 people with at least one. Tattoos represent an art form, and allow people to communicate what they are. Although they are popular, most people end up regretting them. In most cases, those who regret tattoos did not think about the design or take the time to choose the best tattoo for them. Although it is possible to get a tattoo removed, the process is very costly and painful. To prevent this from happening, you should always take some time and find the perfect tattoo - your dream tattoo designs.

Instead of trying to save some money, you should never choose a studio or artist based on how cheap they are. artists studios cheaper and usually lack the quality of work, so they are able to charge lower prices. Instead, you should seek the best studio and the artist can be found in your area. Although it can be expensive - the quality and design will be well worth it.

For some, the dream of its design is a person. This may be a loved one or someone who has passed. You can always use a design or symbol that means something to you and reminds you of them or you can always use the face. Good tattoo artists can make magical tattoos with meaning, if someone's face or a symbol that reflects the meaning.

Sometimes it can be difficult to choose your dream tattoo designs. If you have an idea in mind, but still not sure what you want, you can always research. You can get tattoo books, theme books, magazines, or just research online. By looking at designs you may find something similar to what you are interested in. Once you have found, all you need do is sit down with your tattoo artists and get your dream tattoo designs.

If you have a basic idea for the child in mind, you always can have tattooed then come back later and with more additions. The best thing about tattoos is the fact that you can always add more later. This can be a great thing if you want to try a smaller tattoo first, and then decide whether or not to make it bigger. If you start with a fraction of your dream design, you can always finish later.

Whenever you get your dream tattoo you should always take the time to select the design. Tattoos will stay with you forever, so you should choose carefully. If you put the time and thought into it now, you will not regret later. The design of your dream must be very important, and the expected meaning. In this way, every time you look - you will be reminded that special moment in time and you will never forget him.

Emota Introduces New Emotional Networking Product at Aging in America Conference

Emota Introduces New Emotional Networking Product at Aging in America Conference

Helps professional caregivers and busy families support the elderly in maintaining wellness.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 17, 2010

Aging in America Conference – Emota, a leader in emotional networking technology for healthcare, announced today that it will present its newest product, EmotaMe™ at the Aging in America Conference. EmotaMe will be available this spring in a limited beta release. The company (see www. emota. net (http://www. emota. net)), a leader in applied ambient intelligence, emotional contagion and awareness systems, offers a next generation technology platform to enable professional caregivers and families to stay connected with elderly patients over long distances.

With funding from the National Science Foundation and selected as one of the seven Best Demos at the Health 2.0 fall 2009 conference, Emota is pioneering the new field of Emotional Networking, which complements existing telehealth and social health solutions to address not just clinical health, but the emotional and social aspects of aging.

The Emota technology platform uses the new wave of affordable and intuitive touch screen Internet tablets and picture frames that are easily used by elderly patients. Emota’s unique user interface and awareness technology can give caregivers and providers a non-intrusive connection to patients, allowing them to encourage medical compliance and support wellness.

According to Paul To, CEO and founder of Emota. net, ”With the introduction of EmotaMe, we are focusing on addressing the widely prevalent isolation of the elderly living at home. This isolation can lead to depression, an extremely common condition among the elderly, and often accompanies chronic conditions including congestive heart failure, diabetes, and COPD. EmotaMe is an ambient system. We're not trying to compete with a telephone or a PC. Instead, we are enabling the kind of subtle and minimal communication that, based on scientific research, carries much stronger social and emotional values over a long term."

Emota’s technology strategy is to build an open collaborative platform to deliver its EmotaNudge™ web service interfaces. These interfaces will connect core Emota functionalities such as its Always-on Real-time Awareness Engine and Context Engine technologies to third party applications and will allow rapid integration with Patient Care Management, PHR applications, Remote Patient Monitoring, and Telehealth applications.

The company is developing partnerships with major healthcare organizations to pilot its technologies and expects to release its first product later this spring.

FabulousFood Equals FantasticHealth

FabulousFood Equals FantasticHealth

The release of a new website and ebook showing how to be happy, fit and healthy. How to avoid sickness and increase energy and vitality.

Milton Keynes, England, UK (PRWEB) September 17, 2006

In the 1997 US National Health Review 4 in 10 adults never engage in any exercise, sport or physically active hobbies.

In the same report more than 50% of US adults were overweight......62.3% men, 46.6% women. 1 in 5 US adults were obese.

In a 2004 survey by the National Center for Health Studies 62% of US adults did no exercise at all.

The same survey showed that 24.7 million had diagnosed heart disease.

These figures grow larger every year.

Throughout the world, the western world in particular, sickness, obesity, lack of fitness and unhappiness is a growing problem.

Every day people are eating unhealthy foods and too much food. Too many people take too little or no exercise. Despite the fact that we live in a time of great riches and abundance sickness, obesity, laziness and depression are rife and growing steadily. Even children as young as five and six are being declared obese. It is a world of instant gratification….why take the time to cook healthy food when you can pop packaged ‘unhealthy’ food in a microwave or the oven. Why go to the gym or for a walk when you can sit in front of the tv all night. Much of the food and drinks on offer are not only unhealthy but life threatening……however we do have choices.

Ron Kehoe was one man who made his choice. He wanted too look young, feel young, full of energy. He wanted to live a long, healthy, happy life. He also wanted other people to benefit from what he has learned over the years. This resulted in his book FabulousFoods=FantasticHealth

Ron Kehoe is a 73 year old from London, England. As a kid he played football and cricket all the time. In his teens he became interested in health and strength and so joined a gym. He was bitten by the bodybuilding bug and now some 55 years later he is still weight training. However Ron also became very interested in health as well as fitness. His philosophy was ‘ What is the point of looking good if you are not healthy as well ‘. It is equally important for Ron to be happy…hence his website www. happyfitandhealthy.

For many years Ron has read and studied such things as healthy food and eating, self-improvement, fitness and health, bodybuilding and related subjects.

He is a living example of what he preaches. He not only looks young and healthy but is a happy optimistic loving father and grandfather. Everyone, without exception cannot believe he is 73, Ron, himself refuses to believe it. He always said he wanted to live to be 140, and who would bet against it.

His first Ebook is about to be released. It is aptly titled ‘Fabulous Foods= Fantastic Health. Every chapter deals with a specific super food, detailing why you should eat it, the benefits…. and the pitfalls if you don’t. It is written in an easy to read format, just the facts…no fluff and filler. If you prize your health, if you are suffering from ill health, aches and pains read this book. If your love life is not all you want it to be ….read this book. If you want to live longer and be healthy as well….read this book ‘Fabulous Food=Fantastic Health’ .

Florida Drug Treatment Center Gives The Personal Touch

Florida Drug Treatment Center Gives The Personal Touch

Recently in the news, groundbreaking research has begun seeking to analyze the nature of addiction from an evidence-based approach in order to determine more accurately what interventions work best for whom and under what conditions. However good this may sound, in the case of addiction we cannot wait for a 'check in the mail.' The Ambrosia Treatment Center of Florida has, since their opening, provided a hands-on approach to their clients, tailoring their services to the clients needs, and continues to go the extra mile when a 'personal touch' is needed on the road to recovery and independent living.

Port St. Lucie, FL (PRWEB) September 24, 2008

"I read today in the news that there is groundbreaking research occurring in West Palm Beach, Fl that seeks to define and answer major questions about the disease of addiction (http://www. ambrosiatreatmentcenter. com/index. php), treatment, and recovery -- for example, actually diagnosing the "'presence of addiction and predictability of relapse through evaluation of certain hormone and neuropeptide biomarkers.' What does this mean for those afflicted with addiction? It means greater support for recovering from addiction and not returning to it, especially in the first year, after seeking treatment. However, although exciting movements are occurring in the study of drug dependency, Florida-based drug treatment centers, such as the Ambrosia Treatment Center are already conducting 'evidence-based' practices in order to determine with more accuracy what "interventions work best for whom and under what conditions." (Dr. Barbara Krantz, Hanley Center CEO and Medical Director)

The Ambrosia Treatment Center was created to provide drug rehabilitation (http://www. ambrosiatreatmentcenter. com/drug-rehab. php) and recovery while combating substance abuse in the United States, specifically in their Florida area. Although they carry already a diverse and wide menu of treatment services, the Ambrosia Treatment Center seeks more to "provide services in accordance with the needs of the client as identified in a [personalized] drug rehab/treatment plan." Concepts such as these are inclusive of a Day/Night Drug Rehab Treatment with Community Housing program where patients are monitored 24 hours a day with the knowledge that they will not receive treatment on the grounds they live. The separation of treatment and personal living with housing allows for the development and transition from substance abuse back to recovery and independent living.

Yet as understood in drug abuse treatment the presence of addiction may not be the same for each individual. A Community Housing program may not be necessary for everyone. Furthermore, without unlimited community housing space, some afflicted with severe degrees of addiction may not be able to receive the proper drug abuse treatment necessary for proper recovery. That's why the Ambrosia Treatment Center also provides an Intensive Outbound Treatment Program (http://www. ambrosiatreatmentcenter. com/drug-rehab-outpatient-treatment. php) for those that are still in need of drug rehabilitation in order to combat chemical dependency. Furthermore, the Intensive Outbound Treatment Program can work wonders in the first year of recovery process for those who were in need of community housing. Through this program each client is guaranteed at least nine hours of services from the Ambrosia Treatment Center a week. And, although Ambrosia may not be staffed to address primary mental health problems, they do work with their clients to find these services through consultation and referral programs--already tendering fully developed formal agreements with health and mental health professionals for the provisioning of such services.

Regardless though of what discoveries in West Palm Beach in addiction research are made, no amount of research will alleviate the incredible financial losses that are too often incurred through substance abuse (http://www. ambrosiatreatmentcenter. com/substance-abuse-treatment. php). The Ambrosia Treatment Center tackles this issue head-on through all of their programs when providing drug abuse treatment by providing employment and educational support services to assist clients in becoming financially independent. Drug addiction and personal finances can act as a horrible marriage with a joint bank account. Sometimes the most important step to recovery is removing the drug from that account.

Exciting movements are occurring today with researching the nature of addiction. However, we should not sit on our hands and wait for the results to come in. Alcoholism and drug abuse is a debilitating disease. And, with any evidence-based method, it requires a hands-on approach -- an approach the Ambrosia Treatment Center knows all too well.

US Medical Waste Management Market to Cross $2.4 Billion by 2009, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

US Medical Waste Management Market to Cross $2.4 Billion by 2009, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

The US medical waste management market is projected to cross about US$2.4 billion by 2009, growing at a compounded annual rate of over 5%. An aging population and a stable economy bodes well for the medical waste management market in the US. Outsourcing of medical waste management services is expected to catch on in a big way, owing to the termination of on-site incinerators and the huge capital costs required for installing new equipment.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 25, 2007

Waste generated by healthcare centers is increasingly becoming the topic of debate among lawmakers, citizen's groups, and social groups in the US. The waste generated is classified into two categories, namely General Waste and Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) or Clinical Waste. General waste, which constitutes more than 80% of healthcare waste is comparable to domestic waste, and can be disposed off as municipal solid waste. Regulated Medical Waste (RMW), which constitutes about 20% of healthcare waste, includes waste that is harmful or has the potential to be harmful to human beings and requires separate disposal. Disposal includes burning/incinerating or treatment before being sent to landfills, depending on the regulations prevalent in respective states. Some states in the US require compulsory incineration of certain types of medical waste such as amputated human parts or parts from autopsy, and laboratory cultures among others.

Owing to rising awareness regarding negative effects of incinerating medical waste, new environment friendly technologies are developed in the medical waste management market (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-1611.asp). Major alternatives to incineration include autoclaving and microwave sterilization. Even though alternatives to incineration are purported to be environment friendly, these technologies are beset with negative or perceived negative traits that hinder their progress to becoming the preferred standard for medical waste disposal. Healthcare facilities are also looking to reduce waste disposal costs through reduction in volume of RMW generated.

Management & disposal services market (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-1611.asp) constitute the largest segment in the global medical waste management market and is projected to account for sales of about US$1.7 billion by 2008, as stated by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. The liquid waste management market is in its infancy and is experiencing an exciting phase of market development and growth. The market is essentially categorized into collection devices and encapsulation & spill kit products. In terms of growth rate, liquid medical waste management market (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-1611.asp) represents the fastest growing segment, and is forecast to maintain a CAGR of about 13.9% over the ten-year analysis period.

The report titled "Medical Waste Management: A US Strategic Business Report" published by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a review of market trends, various growth drivers and growth inhibitors, product overview, product introductions/innovations, and recent industry activity. The study provides a topical perspective of other markets including Canada, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Rest of World. The study analyzes market data and analytics in value sales for United States by the following product segments - Management & Disposal Services, Collection Equipment, Liquid Medical Waste Management, and Treatment & Processing Supplies.

Key players dominating the US medical waste management market include 3CI Complete Compliance, Aduromed Corporation, Bondtech Corporation, Commodore Medical Services, EnviroClean Management Services, Gamma Waste Systems, Hawaii Bio-Waste Systems, Mark-Costello Company, MCM Environmental Technologies, San-I-Pak Pacific, Stericycle, and WR2. Other major players focused include Bioservices Group (Canada), Hydroclave Systems (Canada) and Sterile Technologies Group (Ireland).

Question: Tired of Mass Produced Lotions Offering No Variety? Answer: Create and Order Your Own at Piloma Bath and Body

Question: Tired of Mass Produced Lotions Offering No Variety? Answer: Create and Order Your Own at Piloma Bath and Body

Southeast Florida's newest up and coming bath and body company.

Lake Worth, FL (PRWEB) May 17, 2005

Orders are created from a list of ingredients: oils, butters and fragrances. The most popular are cocoa butter, which has fabulous softening and skin healing properties. Mowrah butter is from India, this butter is known for preventing drying of the skin and development of wrinkles. Apricot oil is great for sensitive, dry and inflamed skin.

Owner Felecia Scott says, “Because of my severe, dry skin, I had to read the ingredients on lotion bottles. It is frustrating because most of the ingredients used I haven’t seen or heard before. Then my grandmother reminded of our family, beauty recipes and I started making them. Soon after my friends noticed the difference in my skin and they wanted to know what I used. They were impressed when I told them and soon began making lotions for them. As special touch I would put their names on the products I finished. That was when my business began.

Piloma Bath and Body is changing the concept of bath and body. The company has created an innovative line of products such as body mousse, foot smoothies and three butter foot soufflé.

Body Mousse is a universal lotion for the body and feet. Avocado and olive butter moisturizes and condition. The cream is thick when applied spreads smoothly. The result is natural shine from your healthy skin.

The Foot Smoothie contains two types of salt for effective exfoliation of rough, dry skin. To pamper and sooth tired feet we use a special blend of seven 100% all-natural, vegetable oils mixed with lavender and geranium oils.

Three-Butter foot soufflé is intense therapy for the feet. Mowrah, olive and shea butters are melted slowly to preserve the skin softening and nourishing vitamins. A little goes a very, long way. Hint: At night after applying the balm put on a pair of socks to get the full benefit.

Free Tattoo Ideas - How to Get Tattoo Designs for Free

Each and every one of us is always on the lookout for great deals and any way to save money that we can find. With the Internet being so popular these days, many people often turn to the Internet for free tattoo ideas/designs. For most of us, free is always the way to go. When you stop and think about it, a free tattoo design sounds a lot better than paying as much as $150.00 for one at a tattoo studio. The fact about it is simple - someone could just as easily draw their tattoo design themselves and then pay the tattoo artist to put the tattoo on them.

If you give it some thought, you may begin to wonder if free tattoo designs are actually worth it in the end. The fact of them being free is always great, although you may wonder if the design is something you would like to display permanently on your body. When you show your new tattoo to friends, they may think negative thoughts when you tell them that you got the design free off the Internet. Each and every time you show your tattoo people will want to know about the message and the design, which you’ll probably need to think about.

All of us are familiar with the old saying “you get what you pay for”, and it’s truly no different in this scenario. Although there are hundreds and hundreds of websites on the Internet that provide free tattoo designs, few of them are really worth the interest. Most of the free designs out there on the Internet are very poor quality. Therefore, it would be in your best interest to wait and have a professional tattoo artist make the design for you.

Those who choose to go with free tattoo designs will tell you that tattoos are very expensive and they can’t afford to have a professional tattoo artists draw up the design. Some people, when dealing with custom tattoo designs, will say that their tattoo artist doesn’t do custom designs or that he just don’t want to do theirs. Although most of this may be true to an extent, there truly is no better way to get a tattoo than using a design made by a professional tattoo artist.

As most already know, free tattoo designs are normally made by those who know next to nothing about tattoo designing. In most cases, these designs are made by someone who is looking to make a quick profit instead of a true professional tattoo artist. You can easily tell that they aren’t professional quality simply by looking at them. Most free designs have poor quality, poor lines, and often times the work appears to be made on a personal computer. You certainly wouldn’t want to use something like this with your tattoo – simply because you will be showing it the rest of your life.

If you spend a lot of time searching on the Internet for free tattoo designs, you may be able to find a few with good quality. There are some good quality designs out there, although you’ll probably have to search quite a bit to find them. It’s best to have an idea in mind about the tattoo you want then look for it that way. Although it may take you some time, you could very well find it. If you do come across it as a free tattoo design – you should always triple check the quality before you decide to have it done.

Avecia Expands DNA Capabilities to Serve Growing European Market

Avecia Expands DNA Capabilities to Serve Growing European Market

Avecia has announced a dedicated new early phase production unit for DNA medicines (oligonucleotides) at its Grangemouth, Scotland Biotechnology facility. The new unit will supply European customers with material for pre-clinical through to Phase II clinical trials.

(PRWEB) February 13, 2004

Avecia has announced a dedicated new early phase production unit for DNA medicines (oligonucleotides) at its Grangemouth, Scotland Biotechnology facility. The new unit will supply European customers with material for pre-clinical through to Phase II clinical trials.

The addition upgrades Grangemouth to an all-phase production facility. Integration of the new early phase and existing late phase facilities will save in time and costs associated with technology transfer - and speed production time.

Avecia Biotechnology has already installed the first stage of the new early phase facility and is operating at batch scales up to 40g. The full US $1,000,000 equipment package will be in place this Spring, geared to the production of 2 - 100g batches. Avecia is already the world's largest producer of DNA medicines.

The investment is Avecia's second advance in recent months to specifically benefit European customers developing oligonucleotides medicines. In Autumn 2003 Avecia gained certification of its DNA Medicines and Peptides facilities by the UK Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority (MHRA). Accordingly, Grangemouth now has crucial EU-wide recognition as a licenced facility in line with the forthcoming European Clinical Trials Directive.

Introduction of early phase capabilities at Grangemouth means that Europe-based customers will have an intra-EU licenced manufacturing source, eliminating the costs of import tariffs and mandatory testing - and avoiding the complications of technology transfer.

"When evaluating a potential opportunity in DNA medicines, investors are increasingly interested in the robustness of the manufacturing supply chain. The continuity brought by this new investment will reduce the risk of time delays", commented Dr Kevin Cox, Avecia's vice president for Biotechnology. "It also signals our commitment to a growing European customer base. This already accounts for over 20% of the market for pre - and early clinical manufacturing of oligonucleotides".

The development gives Grangemouth matching capability to Avecia's DNA medicines facility in Milford, near Boston MA, USA. Both now offer full pipeline capability, from pre-clinical and early phase through to launched products.

Commissioned in 1999, the oligonucleotides facility at Grangemouth remains the largest of its kind outside the USA. The sister US plant at Milford has been expanded twice since acquisition in 2000.

Innovation by Avecia in developing large scale manufacturing processes for DNA medicines was recognized during 2003 by The Queen's Award for Enterprise, presented at Grangemouth.

One of America’s Most Influential Voices in the Campaign Against Tobacco Picks Another Battle to Win — Obesity

One of America’s Most Influential Voices in the Campaign Against Tobacco Picks Another Battle to Win — Obesity

Former president of the American Medical Association, Dr. Randolph D. Smoak Jr., leading advocate in the AMA campaign against tobacco, joins Monarch Health Sciences, an international health and weight management company.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (PRWEB) March 12, 2004 -

— One of America’s most influential voices in the campaign against tobacco has picked a new battle to win—the obesity epidemic, costing about 400,000 lives a year, and $75 billion a year in healthcare.

Dr. Randolph D. Smoak, Jr., who served as the 155th president of the American Medical Association June 2000-2001 and Chair of Council of the World Medical Association May 2001-2003, is the newest member of the Medical Advisory Board for Monarch Health Sciences, an international health and weight management company based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“There are 50 million Americans who are addicted to nicotine, and 127 million who are significantly obese or overweight [according to the American Obesity Association, www. obesity. org ],which is as much of an impact on their health as tobacco is to others,” said Dr. Smoak. “Just as alcoholism and tobacco addiction have evolved into being categorized as diseases, we will see obesity following the same pattern over the next 25 years. That is why I want to contribute—in the same way I did with tobacco use.”

Dr. Smoak is an internationally recognized leader in the AMA's campaign against tobacco, using his name—both literally and figuratively—to aggressively fight the number one preventable cause of death in America. With obesity gaining critical attention worldwide as the second leading preventable cause of death, Dr. Smoak's addition to the Monarch Health Sciences Medical Advisory Board is a simultaneous statement of the importance of the issue and the credibility of Monarch’s “Forever Fit” comprehensive program.

“Having seen an increase in obesity as a problem in my practice over the years has heightened my interest in helping develop a population-based program that would address it the right way,” Smoak said. “The concepts that are being put forth by Monarch Health Sciences are the best that I’ve seen to achieve success against this growing epidemic.”

Dr. SmoakÂ’s involvement is a significant step toward public awareness and action regarding obesity. "It is with great honor and pleasure that we welcome a distinguished

Colleague, Dr. Smoak, to our Medical Advisory Board,” said Dr. Eneida Roldan, Executive Vice President of Monarch Health Sciences and past Chairperson of Board Certification for the American Board of Bariatric Medicine. “His participation on our Board has further confirmed our commitment to excellence and science-based philosophy. Our common commitment to health, science, and ethics will compliment Monarch's mission to reach new heights in services and growth."

A native of Bamberg, South Carolina, Dr. Smoak received his M. D. degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a senior surgery oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. A diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Smoak served as governor of the College for two terms. He is a clinical professor of surgery at MUSC and USC School of Medicine. Dr. Smoak and his wife, Saundra, have four married daughters and reside in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Hosts Global Research Partnership (GRP) Technical Symposium

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Hosts Global Research Partnership (GRP) Technical Symposium

Global Research Partnership (GRP) Technical Symposium marks the first gathering of KAUST GRP award recipients from around the world.

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (PRWEB) June 13, 2008

On May 28,King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/) concluded its first Global Research Partnership (GRP) Technical Symposium (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/research/tech-symposium. aspx), "Frontiers and Opportunities in Science and Engineering: The Contribution of the Global Research Partnership to KAUST, Saudi Arabia, and the World."

The event welcomed to Saudi Arabia 19 world-renowned researchers and scholars recently awarded grants through the GRP, a global research support program designed to establish strong links between the University and the existing global research enterprise.

His Excellency Minister Ali Ibrahim Al-Naimi (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/about/bio-al-naimi. aspx), Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Chairman of the KAUST Board of Trustees said, "KAUST has embarked on a unique journey, inspired by the bold vision to establish a new house of wisdom and create a modern, global research university. This is the beginning of a new era of global academic and research collaborations that are vital to making King Abdullah's vision a reality."

The two-day event included a visit to the KAUST campus site, an award ceremony featuring a keynote by Mark Yudof, president-designate, University of California, and a full day of presentations focused on KAUST's primary research areas: resources, energy and environment; materials science and engineering; bioscience and bioengineering; and applied mathematics and computational science.

GRP Investigators (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/news-releases/investigator-winners08.aspx), Centers (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/news-releases/centers-08.aspx), and Centers-in-Development (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/news-releases/cid-08.aspx) grant awardees presented their views and latest research of global significance with particular importance to Saudi Arabia and the region, including water desalination, renewable and sustainable next-generation energy sources, genomics of salt-tolerant plants, durable and environmentally friendly construction materials, sustainable utility of hydrocarbons, low-cost high-efficiency solar technology, and the application of computational science to human health and biotechnology.

In his opening remarks, Professor Choon Fong Shih (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/about/presidents-office. aspx), president-designate of KAUST, said, "the Global Research Partnership is one of KAUST's key initiatives to build innovative global alliances at multiple levels, from the individual to the institutional. This cross-disciplinary approach transcends communities, cultures and continents, bringing the best talent together to engage in truly groundbreaking science."

"By supporting cutting-edge research at top universities through the GRP," he added, "KAUST is making a clear statement of its intention to be a major participant in the global exchange of knowledge. The GRP Centers and Centers-in-Development, as well as KAUST Investigators and Fellows, will address the grand challenges of our times, for the betterment of the human condition."

Nadhmi Al-Nasr, KAUST's interim president, added that "today's event marks another significant milestone in KAUST's development. The GRP will help place KAUST on the world map of research in a unique way to become a major contributor in specific research areas."

About the Global Research Partnership (GRP) and KAUST (http://www. kaust. edu. sa/research/global-partnership. aspx)

The Global Research Partnership (GRP) pursues KAUST's core mission of closely linked graduate education and research in global issues of particular importance to Saudi Arabia and the region. Especially during KAUST's startup, this research program is a primary mechanism by which research and graduate education of the highest quality is joined to - and engaged to support - KAUST's development as a world-class graduate research university. The Global Research Partnership is a keystone investment by KAUST as it moves rapidly to become the first newly established 21st century university.

The GRP began in August 2007 with a broad solicitation of research proposals in areas of importance to KAUST. The selection process relied on a world-standard competitive peer review process to choose the highest quality proposals of direct relevance to KAUST's mission. The grants will support research carried out at the selected institutions in three major programs: KAUST Centers and Centers-in-Development, KAUST Investigators, and KAUST Research Fellows (i. e., post-doctoral researchers).

In selecting the Centers, Investigators, and Fellows to be funded, quality of the proposed research, relevance to KAUST missions, and the track record and potential of the proposed individual or team were the leading criteria in peer evaluation.

Another critical factor in peer evaluation was the role that the selected research activities can play in the development of the research and education programs at KAUST. This contribution of GRP research to KAUST's on-campus development may take many forms. GRP-supported faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and technical staff may participate in or lead:

A complementary research center at KAUST to create a paired or combined research program;  Development of a unique research facility at KAUST to enable new research or to serve as a "user center" for research in the region;  Private-sector engagement among the GRP institution, KAUST, and individual companies or consortia of companies with shared research and/or graduate educational needs; or  Educational activities or exchanges to the advantage of students at both KAUST and the GRP institution (for example, GRP institutions will train a group of technical staff or have their graduate students do a rotation in a KAUST lab in Saudi Arabia as part of their doctoral training).

The GRP is also designed to work in a coordinated fashion with other KAUST collaborative programs, including the Academic Excellence Alliance and special academic and industrial partnerships, to facilitate KAUST's launch as a 21st century, globally linked institution.

Flower Tattoo Designs - The Meanings Of Flower Tattoos

These days, more and more women are getting tattoos. As more women decide to get tattoos, flower tattoo designs continue to rise in popularity. The best thing about flower tattoo designs is the fact that there are many different colors and types of flowers – providing many different meanings as well. The flowers can mean a few different things, although specific types of flowers such as the rose and the Lilly may have a more specific meaning.

In general, flower tattoos have a connection with nature, bringing up thoughts and images of life and vitality. Anytime we look at a flower, we see the duration of life, simply flowers connect with us in the sense that we both grow. Flowers emerge from the earth and continue to grow on a daily basis. Then, the flowers bloom, knowing that they will later dry up and start to wilt away.

Having a tattoo with a flower brings back the entire process known as life. Keep in mind however, that different colors and flowers on tattoos will symbolize other things as well. White flower tattoos symbolize purity, while red flower tattoos can symbolize a burning passion. There are many colors and designs available, giving plenty of meaning to those desiring flower tattoo designs.

Roses are the most common flower design for tattoos, symbolizing love. During the turn of the 16th century, roses were tattooed on those who were sentenced to death. If they were to escape from the gallows, the rose tattoo would serve as a symbol to easily recognize them. These days, roses symbolize both love and passion. Roses have long been known as a romantic flower, popular for special occasions with the ones we love.

In the western regions, rose tattoos are a symbol of love and purity. In the Eastern regions however, love and purity are symbolized by a lotus flower. Tattoos that feature lotus flowers also bring a little more meaning to the table. Lotus tattoos are also known to symbolize fortune, peace, beauty, and goodness. Even though roses are the most popular tattoos in North America, Lotus flower tattoos are more common in other regions.

Other examples include the acacia flower tattoo which is the symbol for love and friendship. There are some people with Irish heritage who choose to get tattoos with the flower known as the Bells of Ireland. This flower is well known throughout Ireland, with the tattoo symbolizing good luck. Irish who have this tattoo are known to be lucky, or have an insane trend with luck.

Those who think of themselves as being the perfect lover may want to get a tulip tattooed on their arm. Tattoos with tulips represent passionate love and fame for being a great lover. If you happen to be shy and timid, you may want to go with a violet flower tattoo instead. Violets are common tattoos for those who are shy and timid, and enjoy taking things slow. Those wanting to symbolize wisdom and virtue on the other hand, would be well to get an Iris. Magnolias are also common with flower tattoos, as they symbolize an individual’s love for nature.

Flower tattoo designs are very common and popular designs these days, giving plenty of meaning behind their beauty. The flowers can be large or small and as bold as you wish them to be. No matter which flower you have decided to use with your tattoo, you can ensure that the flower says the meaning you are looking for.

No Pain Tattoo - How to Minimize The Pain Of Tattoos

No matter what you may hear, there really is no way to predict the amount of pain you will experience when you get a tattoo. If you arrive with determination and the right frame of mind, you may not hurt so much as I thought. On the other hand, if you arrive at the studio scared almost to death - most probably hurts more than you thought possible.

Tattoos involve piercing the skin, which almost always involves pain. No matter how big or small the tattoo may be or where you are, you can expect to feel some pain. The overall amount of pain you feel, however, it all depends on your tolerance. If you have a high tolerance for pain can be felt almost nothing during the whole process.

When you get a tattoo, the needles puncture your skin at a rapid pace and depth variable. The outline of the tattoo is easily the most painful, as the needles are used to create a black line highlighted in the tattoo. This part should be inserted fairly deeply and carefully to make sure everything is done correctly. The shading of the tattoo normally is not painful, although it depends on the depth of penetration and the effect you want.

Typically, the pain you feel is a slight burn or scratching feeling. If the tattoo going to be in an area where there is less bone and tissue such as the wrist or chest, the pain will be a little more intense. Areas like the arms and legs however, are usually not as painful. Areas such as these have more tissue and muscle, thereby reducing the amount of pain you feel.

Although some pain is expected, there are ways you can minimize pain. Here are some tips to help you deal with the pain.
1. Never have a tattoo on drugs or drunk. This thin the blood, causing you to bleed more.
2. Always choose a tattoo artist that you are comfortable. If you have confidence in your artist can minimize the pain a lot.
3. Arrive at the studio with sheer determination. You must accept the fact that the tattoo will take time. Quality work is an art - and should never be rushed.
4. If the pain persists, inform your tattoo artists know immediately. He will take a break, or stop and come back later. You can always break their sessions, as tattoos do not have to be terminated immediately.
5. To ease your mind, listen to music. In this way, you can take your mind to a different place and focus on something more than the tattoo.

Tattoo Removal Options - Some Ways to Remove Your Tattoos

Removing a tattoo is often regarded as a very painful process. Although the process may have been very painful in the past, technology of today offers some tattoo removal options. Currently, there are two options to remove tattoos that are rapidly becoming more and more popular - laser technology and light-based technology.

Both surgeries used light energy to destroy the tattoo ink. The ink in the tattoo will absorb the energy of light, breaking it up. Once the ink starts to break, one could easily pass through and out of your body through filtering. In most cases this is very safe, since the ink is divided into micro size to where it can pass easily through the body without complications.

The process is actually similar to the surgery that removes the hair. The surgeon or doctor who performs the surgery will hold a magic wand to the skin being treated. While doing so, the light pulses are aimed at the tattoo, breaking up the ink. The wand is normally held right up against the tattoo, as this makes the pulses of light much more effective.

Normally, the feeling that you experience is best described as an elastic or rubber band against your skin stirring constantly. If the tattoo is large, the pain could certainly be a little more intense. The area where the tattoo is also important, as sensitive areas may cause some pain and discomfort. If the area you have the tattoo does not have much muscle or tissue, you most likely want to be numbed as much as possible before starting the procedure.

Both laser and light based treatments are somewhat similar. With both tattoo removal procedures, the doctor doing the procedure always apply a cold gel to the tattoo area that is trying to cool the skin and conduct light energy. This cooling gel helps to draw the light, and at the same time, protect your skin. The gel feels cold to the touch, although it will help your skin when the light pulses start to break apart the ink.

If you've been thinking about having a tattoo removed you should consider both light and laser based procedures. Note that both are expensive, and both impose risks. Depending on how big your tattoo and what the procedure involves, you may have to spend a night or two in the hospital. Although both procedures offer ways to make your tattoo removed, you have to think long and hard before making a final decision.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Worth Another Look, says DoctorSolve

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Worth Another Look, says DoctorSolve

Perspectives are changing on the once-shunned HRT as benefits outweigh cons for menopausal women.

Vancouver, B. C (PRWEB) December 5, 2006

New analysis of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) reveals that HRT offers many benefits for menopausal women, including reducing the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD).

In 2002, published results from the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) and Heart Estrogen/Progestin Replacement Study (HERS) created a dramatic shift in the use of HRT for menopausal women. Only 28% of women aged 50-74 years, were taking hormone therapy after 2002, compared to 42% preceding the studies, which indicated that HRT increased the risk of cardiac events, strokes, breast cancer, hip fractures and colorectal cancers. A closer look shows that HRT treatment is in fact not as dreary as it was once believed.

"Menopause is a significant change in a woman's life," says Dr. Paul Zickler of DoctorSolve (www. doctorsolve. com) online pharmacy services. "HRT can help alleviate the annoying symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, mood swings, irritability, night sweats and insomnia. The beneficial effects of HRT for women between the ages of 50 - 59 outweigh the risks and provide an overall improvement in quality of life."

HRT is the administration of female hormones estrogen and progesterone to even out the declining levels of hormones as a result of the onset of menopause. There are added benefits as well. In a study conducted by Dr. Shelley R. Salpeter at Stanford University, CA, Salpeter demonstrated that women who began HRT near menopause had a 32% reduced risk of chronic heart disease, plus reduced risk of bone fractures and colon cancer.

As a complement to HRT, healthcare professionals are also promoting the use of a new progestin-coated intrauterine system (IUS), known as Mirena. Primarily used a means of birth control, the IUS may offer benefits for menopausal women. Combined with low dose estrogens, IUS delivery of progesterone may reduce the risk of breast cancer and heart disease. "In the perimenopausal woman who is still producing estrogen, Mirena reduces headaches, moodiness, weight gain and bloating," says Zickler. "It is also effective in reducing dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), which is defined as prolonged, excessive, irregular or no uterine bleeding," says Zickler. "This means a significant decrease in the number of surgical procedures required to solve the problem." Mirena, available at www. doctorsolve. com, also offers safe and effective birth control for women who are nulliparous. (Women who have not had any children.)

"Information is the key to having a more positive change of life," says Zickler. "Woman going through menopause should ask their physicians about their options. They may be very surprised to learn that the products they have discounted may actually be very beneficial to them!"

South Florida Internist is One of the First to Offer Virtual Office Visits To Patients

Looking for better ways to serve patients, Rene Reyes, MD offers patients convenient online consults. Thanks to secure technology, patients now have the option of getting medical care from Dr. Reyes without leaving the comforts of their home or office. Virtual office visits at Reyes and Reyes are structured online consultations that occur through a secure Web-based portal. These online doctor's visits offer patients an alternative way to communicate with their doctor regarding health issues that do not require face-to-face contact, such as simple urinary tract infections or routine follow-up of chronic diseases.

Hollywood, FL (PRWEB) May 7, 2008

The providers at Reyes and Reyes, MD, PA are pleased to announce that they have acquired secure technology that will allow them to offer patients convenient online consults. Thanks to this technology, some patients now have the option of getting medical care from their doctor without leaving the comforts of their home or office. Patients simply log on to www. reyesmdonline. com, follow the user-friendly instructions and receive a provider's response within 24 hours.

"We are always looking for new ways to better serve our patients," said Rene Reyes, MD. "This is about greater communication between the doctor and the patient. In Primary Care a strong patient-doctor relationship is extremely important, and these online consults make health care much more accessible."

Virtual visits are generally paid for out-of-pocket by patients. And with a virtual online consultation, patients don't have to wait on hold to schedule an appointment, they don't have to miss work and they don't have to spend time in a waiting room. The online consult allows them to describe their problem and formulate questions, receiving the provider's response in writing, where they can re-read the information as often as they need to understand the content. The ideal patient for online consults is one who has an established, ongoing relationship with a physician, where the doctor knows the patient's medical history and has a sense from that history of where the patient's non-emergency complaint, or other concerns, may be coming from.

At Reyes and Reyes, MD, PA patients are also provided with online access to the entire staff. Whether it is for appointment requests, referrals, billing questions or prescription refills, the "Ask our Staff" feature is offered at no charge. At www. reyesmdonline. com, patients can also get details on the office's hours and location, as well as useful tips and information.

"It's very convenient for patients to be able to e-mail me or my staff," continued Reyes. "Although it doesn't replace what we do in person, there are cases where modern technology gives a whole new twist to the concept of house calls."

Thailand's Medical Tourism is Booming - Thailand on its Way to Become Asia's Medical Hub

Thailand's Medical Tourism is Booming - Thailand on its Way to Become Asia's Medical Hub

The Royal Thai Government's strategy in 2004 for Thailand to become Asia's medical hub is becoming a reality as Thailand continues to see an increase in medical tourism. With an annual growth rate of 14% for the sector, ahead of the county's GDP, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) expects to see two million visitors wanting to take advantage of lower medical treatments by 2010.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 5, 2009

The Royal Thai Government's strategy in 2004 for Thailand to become Asia's medical hub is becoming a reality as Thailand continues to see an increase in medical tourism. With an annual growth rate of 14% for the sector, ahead of the county's GDP, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) expects to see two million visitors wanting to take advantage of lower medical treatments by 2010.

In 2008 Research and Markets reported that, although Thailand is faced with tough competition from India and Malaysia, Thailand has treated the highest number of international tourists in Asia. High health care costs, overloaded medical facilities and the fact that Thailand provides the most advanced treatments by internationally trained medical staff are reasons why medical tourists are choosing Thailand. "Thailand's ultra-new and modern hospitals are less than a decade old and feel more like luxury hotels catering to tourists, than places to treat the infirm" (Tourism Authority of Thailand (http://www. seeyouinthailand. com/)). The cost for health care in Thailand is about one fifth of what you would pay in the United States or Europe, making it more significant that in 2008, foreign patients generated an estimated $6 billion USD for Thailand. According to one international medical travel journal, the Royal Thai Government has put together a five-year plan that aims to double this revenue by 2014.

Deloitte Consulting estimated 750,000 Americans traveled abroad for health care services in 2007, a figure that was expected to double last year, with a forecasted global market expansion of more than 20% annually going forward to 2012. Thailand is ready to meet the growing industry by continuously making sure international standards are met and offering a level of hospitality not found in any other medical center around the world at affordable prices.

People are traveling to Thailand for routine maintenance like dental to cosmetic surgery, gastric bypass surgery and heart surgery. Medical tourists can undergo and recover from many non-invasive procedures during a normal two-week holiday in Thailand. A new guidebook Patients Beyond Borders: Thailand Edition released on Monday by Josef Woodman, CEO of Healthy Travel Media, offers an in-depth overview of Thailand's international hospitals, selected health travel agents, nearby recovery and guest accommodations, spas, and area travel information so that travelers know where to go in Thailand to get their world-class medical treatment.

Thailand's rapid growth into becoming Asia's medical hub is also creating great opportunities in related fields. The medical device sector is continuing to see healthy growth to meet the demands of health care facilities for new upgraded medical machinery and devices. Research and development for tropical diseases like malaria and dengue fever are areas also open for further investment. As Thailand's medical tourism industry continues to grow, its health care industry will flourish as well.

About the Tourism Authority of Thailand

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (http://www. seeyouinthailand. com/) (TAT) was established in 1960 by the Royal Thai Government to be specifically responsible for tourism promotion. In 1965, TAT opened its first overseas office in New York. Since then, TAT has established 21 offices in different parts of the world including the Los Angeles office. TAT aims to provide the best Thailand traveling information to the public and media members as well as work closely with our travel partners to develop new deals and packages.

Computer Assisted Surgical Systems Market to Exceed $2.0 Billion by 2010, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

Computer Assisted Surgical Systems Market to Exceed $2.0 Billion by 2010, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

World Computer Assisted Surgical Systems market is projected to grow at a stupendous rate to cross US$2 billion mark by 2010. United States represents the largest and fastest growing market for computer assisted surgical (CAS) systems. The US market is likely to sustain its lead and corner sales of about US$1.2 billion by 2010. Revenues in Europe, the second largest CAS systems market, are forecast to clock US$505 million by 2010. However, Asia-Pacific and Rest of World exhibit high potential in surging CAS systems market over the analysis period.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) July 19, 2007

A new report on computer assisted surgical systems has been released by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. "Computer Assisted Surgical Systems: A Global Strategic Business Report" provides comprehensive analyses and includes coverage of key geographic markets such as US, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, UK, and others alongside up and coming markets such as Asia-Pacific and Rest of World. The report provides incisive insights into market trends, regulatory environment, opportunities, and challenges.

Buoyed by growth propellers such as growing number of older people, increasing use of imaging procedures being prescribed by physicians, and significant increase in outpatient surgical procedures, the computer assisted surgical systems (CAS) market is forecast to offer lucrative prospects in all the major geographic markets.

Surgical navigation systems (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-1147.asp) represents the largest product segment of computer assisted surgical systems (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-1147.asp), with estimated sales of about US$589 million in 2007. Surgical robots (http://www. strategyr. com/MCP-1147.asp) represents the fastest growing segment in the global CAS systems market, at 33% CAGR over the next five years.

Collaborative agreements between manufacturers of surgical devices and developers of computer guided surgery, navigation, and robotic surgery systems are accelerating the growth of CAS systems. Additionally, surgeons are increasingly using CAS technologies to perform critical and very delicate surgical procedures, wherein the surgeon cannot directly see within the patient's body. CAS technologies and devices such as robotics, remote imaging, feedback, and data processing act as an extension to surgeon's eye and hands to perform procedures.

However, despite the advancements in computer and robotic technologies, CAS can never substitute human judgment or the extensive experience of a surgeon. Nevertheless, CAS certainly offers the potential to revolutionize the way surgery of a patient is performed.

Advances in CAS technologies have expedited progress in medical and surgical interventions as stated by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. CAS plays a pivotal role in offering enhanced health care services to people, while considerably reducing expenses. Besides, the CAS technologies aid patients as they experience less pain and shorter recovery periods, which in turn lead to shorter hospital stays and minimum hospital bills.

The year 2003 witnessed the merger of two leading CAS giants. Computer Motion Inc. merged with Intuitive Surgical Inc. The merged entity combines the highly complementary technical expertise of both companies and effectively removes costly long-term patent disputes. The merged entity, operating under Intuitive Surgical Inc.'s name, markets both Intuitive as well as Computer Motion products. The merger has had a major impact on the CAS system industry. The merged entity has become the undisputed leader in operative surgical robotics, acquiring lion's share in the industry.

Further, the merger facilitates the combined resources to concentrate on enhancing robotics technology in the area of minimally invasive surgery and improve the value of healthcare system by offering surgeons and hospitals with the most advanced products to serve patients. Apart from Intuitive Surgical Inc., other leading players in the global CAS marketplace include Ascension Technology Corporation, Boston Dynamics Inc., Cedara Software Corp., GE Healthcare, Immersion Medical, Inc., Integrated Surgical Systems Inc., MusculoGraphics, Inc., Philips Medical Systems, Polhemus Inc., SensAble Technologies, Inc., Simbionix USA Corp., and Viking Systems, Inc.
